Heilbronn as an Innovation Hub: Launch of the I³-Lab

On September 10, the official launch of the I³-Lab in Heilbronn was marked by the symbolic handover of a funding cheque. The project, led by the MOLIT Institute for Personalized Medicine, received significant funding totaling €7.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the State of Baden-Württemberg. The project is also generously supported by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation.

A New Impulse for Medical Innovation
During the ceremonial cheque presentation, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, emphasized:
„The I³-Lab creates space for new medical innovations and supports the transfer of research results into practical application. This strengthens the healthcare sector – one of Baden-Württemberg’s key industries.“

Cutting-Edge Research Infrastructure in Heilbronn
The I³-Lab will offer 2,700 m² of modern laboratory and office space, available to both scientific research groups from the MOLIT Institute and to innovative start-ups and companies. Its proximity to the SLK Clinic will enable a fast transfer of research findings into patient care, raising medical research in the region to a new level.

Heilbronn as a Future Hub for Medicine
This strategic investment positions the Heilbronn region as a central hub for medical innovation. In the long term, both patient care and the healthcare industry across the country are expected to benefit from the advancements made at the I³-Lab. The project sets new standards for integrating research and clinical practice, and drives economic development in the life sciences sector in Baden-Württemberg.
